Latitude AI - Pittsburgh, PA
Full-time
Salary: Annually
Application Deadline: N/A

Latitude AI (lat.ai) is an automated driving technology company developing a hands-free, eyes-off driver assist system for next-generation Ford vehicles at scale. We’re driven by the opportunity to reimagine what it’s like to drive and make travel safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone.

When you join the Latitude team, you’ll work alongside leading experts across machine learning and robotics, cloud platforms, mapping, sensors and compute systems, test operations, systems and safety engineering – all dedicated to making a real, positive impact on the driving experience for millions of people.

As a Ford Motor Company subsidiary, we operate independently to develop automated driving technology at the speed of a technology startup. Latitude is headquartered in Pittsburgh with engineering centers in Dearborn, Mich., and Palo Alto, Calif.

Meet the team:

The Platform Systems, Integration, and Test Team at Latitude is responsible for the design, integration, and testing of all interface functions between the self-driving technology and robotics platform. These functions include motion control, fault handling, HMI, and controls integration, along with the overall vehicle architecture. We specialize in parallelized development of prototype functionality and production designs, enabling all of Latitude to rapidly develop feature intent functionality without incurring significant technical debt.

    • System engagement and mode arbitration
    • Motion and HMI controls
    • Physical and communication dependencies
  • Own Latitude’s system, subsystem, and component-level architectures
  • Work closely with Latitude and Ford systems engineers to integrate their system and subsystems designs into the functional architecture
  • Work closely with software and hardware leads to integrate component-level designs into the platform architecture
  • Periodically get hands-on with the product and see the system in action

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience (or Master's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or PhD and 2+ years of relevant experience)
  • At least 7+ years of experience working in either automotive or robotics engineering, or a related field
  • Experience writing system, subsystem, or component-level requirements

Nice to have:

  • Experience with requirements management tools (ex: Jama)
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering tools (ex: MagicDraw)
  • Experience designing complex robotic systems from the ground up (ex: autonomous vehicles)

What we offer you:
