Role at a Glance

As the Head of IT, you will be responsible for all of the strategic and operational decisions that impact IT Hardware and Software that powers Gecko. As the Head of IT you will embed deeply in the business to understand challenges and gaps in workflows, and ensure the security, stability, and scalability of Geckos infrastructure. The Head of IT will also be a key driver of internal data and working with Gecko leadership to help maximize resources. Additionally, you are process minded but action oriented, and know how to walk the line of immediate fixes and scaling for the future. 

 

What you will do 

  • Embed deeply with Business Stakeholders to define IT Roadmap and OKRs

  • Create processes and infrastructure to respond quickly and effectively to the evolving technical needs of the business

  • Build the IT team at Gecko, hiring, managing performance and promoting IT team members

  • Creatively work with the team to automate wherever possible

  • Negotiate and manage vendors as well as budgets to ensure high quality investments

  • Iterate quickly to ensure that operations and maintenance  of hardware Infrastructure (Scale VM Cluster, Cisco, AV)and software Infrastructure (Zoom, Okta, Google Workspace…) are up to date

  • Provision and management of Gecko corporate devices

  • Partner with Workplace Experience to ensure the technical build out of new offices (Travel required)

  • Support of the technical operations and maintenance needs of remote offices

  • Configuration of security controls on Gecko infrastructure and corporate devices defined by InfoSec

 

About You

Required Skills

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5-7 years of IT experience with advancing responsibilities

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills with exceptional customer service skills

  • Operational and People  leadership experience, with proven experience managing people

  • 1-3 years of startup experience

  • 1-3 years of experience administering a rapidly scaling network infrastructure

  • Effective stakeholder management

Preferred Skills

  • 1-3 years of experience with scripting languages such as Python, Powershell and Bash

  • 1-3 years of experience with a configuration management framework such as SaltStack, Puppet or Ansible
